Qatar Airways Slashes London Flights For Spring 2026

Weekly, airlines provide updates to their flight schedules to data providers like Cirium Diio and OAG. The most recent data reveals that Qatar Airways has made various adjustments to its worldwide flight routes. These changes include the cessation of flights to Aleppo and a reduction in services to cities such as London, Manchester, Peshawar, San Francisco, Sialkot, and Venice.

This piece will exclusively examine the modifications made to Qatar Airways’ London services. It’s worth mentioning that fellow oneworld alliance member and a key collaborator, British Airways, already operates flights to Doha, effectively representing the Qatari airline. British Airways’ current service to Doha remains unaltered, as this route is not among its top ten longest flights.

Qatar Airways operates flights to both Heathrow and Gatwick. Prior to the latest schedule revision, the airline had initially scheduled 951 departures to London from April through June. This number has now been cut to 818 outbound flights, representing a 14% decrease. While Qatar Airways has also trimmed London services for the July-October period, this minor 3% to 5% reduction will not be elaborated upon here.

Since weekly offerings can fluctuate, we’ll examine the flights scheduled for the arbitrary week commencing May 1. Qatar Airways’ London departures for this week currently stand at 59, a decrease from the 70 flights projected in the previous week’s schedule.

What Does The New Schedule Look Like?

Focusing on the week beginning May 1, Gatwick Airport is slated for 11 weekly departures, a figure already lower than its initial double-daily service plan. This schedule of 11 weekly flights is now set to continue through September.

Conversely, Heathrow’s weekly departures have been lowered from 59 to 48, equating to almost a 20% cut. It is speculated that these relinquished slots will be returned to British Airways. Heathrow has, therefore, seen a reduction of 11 weekly flights, which translates to the cancellation of one to two daily services.

Booking statistics from the year leading up to November 2025 indicate that more than 1.6 million Qatar Airways passengers flying from London connected to onward flights in Doha. This represents a daily average of over 4,300 travelers. When considering both Heathrow and Gatwick, the leading five country markets for London connections were India, Pakistan, Australia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.

Looking at individual airports, Gatwick's top ten segments included Colombo, Bangkok, Melbourne, Phuket, Lahore, Sydney, Kochi, Islamabad, Male, and Brisbane. For Heathrow, the most frequent destinations were Kathmandu, Colombo, Bangkok, Islamabad, Lahore, Manila, Kochi, Karachi, Phuket, and Jeddah. Interestingly, ultra-low-cost carrier Wizz Air operates its A321XLRs on the Gatwick-Jeddah (and Medinah) routes.
