NEW DELHI: Despite recent setbacks with two consecutive losses in IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani expressed unwavering confidence, stating his team has pinpointed its weaknesses and is prepared for a strong comeback. He affirmed that the squad has already “diagnosed” its problem areas in anticipation of Saturday’s crucial match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League.
Following defeats to Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, Delhi has slipped into the lower half of the standings. However, Badani dismissed worries about dwindling momentum, opting instead to highlight the team’s internal clarity.

‘We have addressed the issue’
“While there’s much talk about momentum in such tournaments,” Badani remarked during the pre-match press conference, “I believe the real focus should be on identifying a side’s specific concerns. We’ve effectively pinpointed, or at least believe we have, and tackled that particular problem.”
Badani reiterated his faith in his batsmen, noting their consistent ability to post competitive scores.
“We’ve put up totals of 190 and 200. We narrowly lost one game by a single run. Even in the previous match, we managed around 180-190. It ultimately comes down to our batters performing at the right moment. I think we will be in good shape,” he added.
Faith in youngsters remains intact
Badani also voiced strong support for promising young fast bowler Auqib Nabi, who had a challenging debut against CSK, conceding 17 runs in just two overs.
“We pursued him vigorously for two key reasons—his composure and consistency,” Badani elaborated. “He maintains a steady demeanor. Many players react differently to highs and lows, but he has maintained the same temperament throughout.”
“He possesses the talent to compete at a higher level. Everyone experiences nerves in their first game, but I’m confident he will perform well for us,” he further stated.
RCB pose a stern challenge
As DC seeks to find consistency, RCB has distinguished itself as one of the season’s most balanced outfits, spearheaded by the stellar form of Virat Kohli, who currently holds the Orange Cap. Crucially, RCB’s batting prowess extends beyond Kohli, with significant contributions from Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt, and Tim David bolstering their lineup.
Patidar, notably, has been outstanding, leading the league in sixes this season.
For Delhi, a persistent lack of consistency remains a primary concern. Veteran players such as KL Rahul, David Miller, and Tristan Stubbs have struggled to find their rhythm, while skipper Axar Patel and spinner Kuldeep Yadav have yet to reach their peak form.
