FRISCO, Texas — Facing a considerable delay before making their selection in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and without a second-round choice this year, the Dallas Cowboys recognized the critical importance of their final pick in the fourth round. This was especially true given they had no selections remaining in the fifth or sixth rounds, having traded those away on Day 1 (for Caleb Downs) and Day 2 (for Dee Winters).

Numerous defensive requirements had already been fulfilled through both free agency and the draft selections made up to this point. So much so, that the Cowboys’ front office and head coach Brian Schottenheimer playfully considered the idea of concluding the draft without any offensive additions. However, it remained to be seen if that scenario would actually play out.
Ultimately, with the 137th overall pick, they chose LT Overton, a multifaceted defensive lineman from the University of Alabama.
