Dillon Brooks Leaves Suns vs Magic With Injury

PHOENIX — Dillon Brooks, forward for the Phoenix Suns, has been forced to leave the game at Mortgage Matchup Center.

According to the team’s broadcast, Brooks exited the contest late in the opening quarter against the Orlando Magic due to what seemed to be a thumb injury. At the close of the first quarter, Orlando was ahead of Phoenix, 25-21.

This season, Brooks is achieving a career-best average of 21.1 points per game, establishing himself as a crucial component in Phoenix’s renewed identity as a highly physical team on both offense and defense.

With Devin Booker sidelined, the Suns require Brooks’ on-court presence to complement Jalen Green. Before his departure, Brooks had contributed five points and three rebounds.

Further details will be added to this article as they become available.

Brooks had been suspended for Phoenix’s game against the San Antonio Spurs immediately following the All-Star break, a consequence of accumulating too many technical fouls.

Without Brooks on the floor, the Suns appeared significantly outmatched, clearly lacking their energetic catalyst both during huddle discussions and within the locker room.

Ahead of the game, Suns coach Jordan Ott underscored Phoenix’s imperative to reinstate their aggressive and physical style of play now that Brooks was back in the lineup:

“In recent games, I believe we haven’t been at that level, partly due to heading into the break. San Antonio has a distinct roster of athletes who are very defensive-minded and confrontational. That’s essentially the current trend in the game,” he stated to journalists before the match.

“The player with the ball gains an advantage, and they’re permitted to do so. You must endure it, and often in one-on-one situations, they drive directly at you. Tonight presents the identical challenge. These opponents are aggressive drivers. We understand their goal is to penetrate the paint and attack the rim. That is their strength. We need to withstand that initial impact, despite how much we want to provide help.

“Frequently, it devolves into individual matchups. Therefore, we aim to guard them a bit higher up the court. That’s our strategy. Our defensive pressure points will be pushed further out, attempting to apply pressure whenever possible, all while being aware they will charge directly at you. Van Carroll stands out as one of the most physically dominant drivers in the league, and we must do our utmost to absorb that first contact without committing a foul.”
