On Saturday, Kaillie Humphries and Jasmine Jones secured the bronze medal in the 2-woman bobsled competition. This achievement marked the 40-year-old pilot Humphries’ second medal of these Games and notably prevented a potential German sweep.
Laura Nolte, who previously experienced a setback in the monobob competition where a crucial error cost her the gold after leading through multiple runs, ultimately clinched her well-deserved first-place finish. This marks her second successive gold medal in the 2-woman event. Alongside brakewoman Deborah Levi, Nolte triumphed on Saturday with a time of 3 minutes, 48.46 seconds. Their teammates, Lisa Buckwitz and Neele Schuten, earned the silver medal, finishing in 3:48.99, while Humphries and Jones secured bronze with a time of 3:49.21.
Humphries, renowned for holding more Olympic gold medals than any other female bobsledder in history, had already secured a bronze in monobob earlier this week, marking her fifth Olympic medal overall. Saturday’s achievement elevated her total to six Olympic medals.
