Martin Short’s Daughter Katherine Died By Suicide

TMZ has learned that Martin Short‘s daughter, Katherine, died by suicide.

Law enforcement sources informed TMZ that the 42-year-old succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On Monday, shortly after 6:40 PM PT, the LAPD and fire department were dispatched to her Hollywood Hills residence, where she was discovered deceased.

Katherine, the daughter of Short and Nancy Dolman — his wife of three decades who passed in 2010 from ovarian cancer — worked as a social worker in Los Angeles. She earned her bachelor’s degree from NYU and later a master’s in social work from USC.

She was actively involved with the charity “Bring Change 2 Mind,” which aims to dismantle the stigmas associated with mental health conditions.

Despite her father’s considerable fame, Katherine generally preferred to stay out of the public eye, though she did attend some events with him over the years. She was the eldest of Short’s three children.

Katherine was last seen in public in January 2020, outside Craig’s, a renowned restaurant in West Hollywood.

This incident marks the second personal tragedy Short has experienced in recent weeks, following his recent tribute to his long-time friend Catherine O’Hara, who passed away last month.
