Phoenix Suns head coach Jordan Ott provided an update on Cole Anthony’s availability, noting he has yet to join the squad.
“The situation remains unchanged,” Ott stated on Feb. 26, prior to Phoenix’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Mortgage Matchup Center. “There hasn’t been significant movement, but we’ve faced several injuries, which factors into this.”
The Suns (33-26) acquired Anthony from the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team exchange before the trade deadline on Feb. 5. In that deal, Nick Richards was sent to the Chicago Bulls and Nigel Hayes-Davis to the Bucks.
“That’s why things haven’t progressed much, but it’s also why it’s not entirely off the table,” Ott elaborated. “We’ll keep communicating with his representatives to move this process forward.”
Sources have informed The Arizona Republic that the Suns were considering waiving Anthony. The 6-foot-2-inch guard averaged 6.7 points across 35 games for the Bucks this season.
Anthony’s last game was on Feb. 3, playing against the Chicago Bulls.
The Suns are currently missing Devin Booker (right hip strain), Dillon Brooks (left hand fracture), Jordan Goodwin (left calf strain), and Haywood Highsmith (right knee injury management) due to injuries.
Booker is set for a re-evaluation this weekend and will miss his fourth consecutive game on Thursday against the Lakers. The Suns’ next game isn’t until March 3, on the road against Sacramento.

“He continues to make progress,” Ott commented. “You’ve observed him on the court. He’s definitely increasing his movement day by day.”
The Suns announced on Feb. 24 that Brooks’s condition will be reassessed in four to six weeks, while Goodwin is slated for a re-evaluation within one to two weeks.
Regarding Highsmith, he has not played at all this season following right knee surgery in August. He joined Phoenix as a free agent after being released by Brooklyn before the trade deadline.
Phoenix stated on Feb. 21 that Highsmith’s re-evaluation is expected in two to three weeks.
The Suns are a guard-heavy team, and their current roster includes Jalen Green, Grayson Allen, Collin Gillespie, and Jamaree Bouyea, who is on a two-way contract with a fixed number of available games.
