Country sensation Riley Green is making his entry into the expansive Yellowstone universe, a development that has thrilled country music enthusiasts. Details about Garrett, his character in Marshals, have largely been under wraps – until recently.

The upcoming spinoff series (set to air on CBS, a departure from Yellowstone‘s usual platform) sees Luke Grimes return as Kayce Dutton. Kayce has relocated from the Yellowstone Ranch to serve with the U.S. Marshals. Fans can also anticipate the reappearance of beloved Yellowstone characters, with Mo Brings Plenty (Mo), Brecken Merrill (Tate), and Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater) reprising their roles.

So, where does Riley Green’s character factor in? The country star recently detailed his role to ExtraTV. “Garrett is a former Navy SEAL who served alongside Luke (Grimes’ character). He’s a troubled individual,” Riley revealed. “He carries the weight of past experiences shared with Luke. Upon his return, he grapples with these struggles, while Kayce persistently endeavors to assist him and integrate him into the Western way of life as a Marshal. It’s quite a vulnerable character. He’s endured significant hardship, and for me, immersing myself in that mindset was a compelling challenge. It proved to be a fantastic role.”

Naturally, fans are curious whether Riley’s musical talents will be featured in the series. He hinted, “I’ll be playing a bit. Garrett does indeed play some guitar.”

Riley attributes his foray into acting to the encouragement of his friend, Luke Grimes. Having assisted the Yellowstone star with his musical endeavors (Luke’s upcoming album, Redbird, is due out April 3rd), Luke reciprocated by guiding Riley into his acting debut. “It was a truly enjoyable experience,” he shared. “Because it was something I approached with a degree of apprehension… I no longer get stage fright for concerts, having performed for so long, but this was entirely new territory. It presented a significant learning curve, and I’m grateful for their patience with me.”

The acclaimed “Worst Way” singer is undoubtedly offering audiences a compelling reason to tune in when Marshals makes its debut on March 1st.
