After its recent debut, The Drama is now generating initial feedback, with Robert Pattinson and Zendaya consistently capturing audience attention. Early responses have been largely uniform, frequently highlighting the chemistry between the two leads and the overall tone of the narrative.
The Drama Receives Strong Early Buzz Before Its Release
Initial reactions to The Drama have started to emerge following its premiere in Los Angeles on March 17, 2026, with viewers largely sharing positive comments on social media. The film, starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, has garnered notice for its performances and mood in advance of its wider distribution.
Several early viewers emphasized the on-screen dynamic between the two principal actors. Nora Dominick posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I got to see THE DRAMA, and it’s no surprise there’s a clear reason they are doing multiple projects together because Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are so great together. They’ve got undeniable chemistry in this romance movie that skillfully uses some dark (and cringe-inducing) humor to its benefit.”
Similarly, Jairo Jiménez described the movie as “a perfectly executed exercise in disturbing romantic discomfort.” He further remarked that Pattinson and Zendaya are “sublime” in their portrayals, building tension with “cutting glances & suffocating silences.”
Matt Neglia also offered a positive review, writing, “THE DRAMA is my kind of dark romantic comedy: profoundly intricate, incredibly stressful, thought-provoking, and awkwardly funny.” He also pointed out that the film explores themes of empathy and relationships, while commending Kristoffer Borgli’s direction and the acting.
Another viewer, @candykizzes24, observed, “The Drama transforms the classic pre-wedding jitters trope into a ticking time bomb,” adding that the film examines a relationship under strain as difficult truths begin to surface. The reaction also highlighted the performances, stating that the leads “make it as realistic as possible and as uncomfortable for the audience as it is for them.”
Penned and helmed by Borgli, The Drama is slated for release on April 3, 2026. The cast also includes Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates in supporting roles.
