GREEN BAY – Veteran cornerback Benjamin St-Juste has officially joined the Packers as a free agent.
Discover five key facts about Green Bay’s latest defensive back acquisition:
- He has completed five seasons in the NFL, serving as a primary starter for three of those years.
At 28 years old, St-Juste entered the league as a third-round selection (74th overall) by Washington in 2021, playing four seasons with the Commanders before joining the Chargers last year.
Throughout his five professional seasons, St-Juste, who stands 6-3 and weighs 200 pounds, has participated in 70 contests, starting 47. His career totals include 243 tackles, 41 passes defended, two interceptions, four forced fumbles, and three sacks.
A significant portion of his starts, 42 out of 47, occurred during his three-year tenure with Washington from 2022-24, where he amassed over 2,500 defensive snaps. In 2023, he set a personal best and led his team with 17 passes defended, also securing his inaugural career interception against Desmond Ridder, who is now the Packers’ backup quarterback but was then with Atlanta.
- Despite a reduced role last season, he performed effectively.
When he joined the Chargers as a free agent in 2025, St-Juste reconnected with Jim Harbaugh, his initial college coach at Michigan (St-Juste subsequently transferred to Minnesota).
He participated in 16 games, primarily in a rotational or sub-package capacity, making only two starts. However, across 356 snaps, Pro Football Reference indicates he yielded an impressive passer rating of merely 68.3 when opposing quarterbacks targeted him, marking his best performance in that metric for a single season.
Furthermore, he notched his second career interception by picking off Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the third quarter, which led to a Chargers touchdown in a game Los Angeles ultimately secured by a two-point margin.
- His recent track record shows considerable durability.
St-Juste has only sat out two games throughout the past three seasons, appearing in 53 of 55 potential matchups, including playoff games. His sole absence last season occurred in Week 17 because of a shoulder injury, though he was back on the field for Week 18 and subsequent postseason play.
Earlier in his professional career, St-Juste was placed on injured reserve during his rookie season in 2021 due to a concussion, and an ankle injury sidelined him for several late-season games in 2022.
- He was additionally selected in the Canadian Football League draft.
Hailing from Quebec, St-Juste’s first language was French, and he acquired English while attending pre-university school in Montreal. After his collegiate football career at both Michigan and Minnesota, he was chosen in the sixth round of the CFL draft as the 52nd overall pick.
- He is expected to contend for a starting position with Green Bay.
With Nate Hobbs’s departure, the Packers’ primary boundary cornerbacks now consist of Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, and St-Juste. While Nixon is anticipated to secure one starting role, the other will likely be a battle between Valentine, St-Juste, and any potential new players brought in through free agency or the draft.
