Hundreds of 7-Eleven locations in North America are slated for closure this year, as the convenience store chain scales back its presence amid recent regional performance downturns.
According to a recent filing by its parent company, Seven & i Holdings, 645 7-Eleven stores are scheduled for closure in its fiscal year 2026, which commenced in March. Some of these sites will be redeveloped into wholesale fuel stations instead of operating as conventional convenience stores.
However, even with these reductions, the company intends to pursue strategic growth, planning to launch approximately 205 new 7-Eleven stores within the same fiscal year, which will partially mitigate the impact of the closures.

This strategy will result in a reduced overall presence. Company forecasts indicate that the total count of 7-Eleven convenience stores in North America will decrease to approximately 12,272 by the close of the fiscal year, a significant drop from over 13,000 locations in 2024.
Recent company data reveals that 7-Eleven’s North American operations have experienced a dip in performance, marked by decreasing customer footfall.
