Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman snaps 0-for-8 skid, then gets tagged out with a hug | Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers star hitter Freddie Freeman finally secured his initial hit of the season after a challenging 0-for-8 start. His journey around the bases was brief, concluding with an unexpected embrace.

Freeman connected for a single against Arizona pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez during the second inning of Saturday’s game. Following two subsequent outs, Santiago Espinal hit a ground ball to second base.

Ketel Marte of Arizona intercepted the ball approximately midway between first and second base, then extended his arms, obstructing Freeman’s progress.

Finding himself with no escape route, Freeman approached a grinning Marte, who then ended the inning by ‘tagging’ him out with a hug.
