The Chiefs have commenced their roster adjustments for the 2026 season, beginning with the release of an experienced defensive lineman.
On Monday afternoon, the team shared a thank you message for defensive end Mike Danna on social media, and numerous reports subsequently confirmed his release. Danna was slated to enter the final year of the three-year contract he signed with Kansas City in 2024.

This move is projected to free up more than $8.9 million in salary cap space, though it will incur over $2.16 million in dead money.
A fifth-round pick in 2020, Danna appeared in 87 regular season games and 16 postseason games for the Chiefs. Throughout his tenure with the team, he amassed 221 tackles, 23.5 sacks, one interception, and seven forced fumbles.
