active pattern brings waves of storms, some strong, through mid-week

MONDAY: Expect a stalled cold front to shift northward across the Mid-South by early afternoon, driven by an approaching disturbance. Temperatures will reach the mid-70s, preceding scattered showers and thunderstorms. There’s a strong to severe risk, primarily south of I-40, with possible large hail and destructive winds. The threat for severe weather will diminish after sunset, though isolated showers may persist overnight as lows settle into the 60s.

TUESDAY: The day will be warm and breezy, with temperatures nearing 80 degrees. Mostly cloudy conditions are anticipated, accompanied by gusty winds that could reach up to 35 mph. Isolated storms are possible later in the day, but the severe weather threat is expected to remain low. Overnight lows will be in the mid-60s.

WEDNESDAY: FIRST ALERT – Prepare for an active weather day as a cold front moves in during the afternoon. Conditions will be warm and breezy, with highs in the 70s and wind gusts reaching 30-40 mph. There’s a significant risk for strong to severe storms, with damaging winds being the main concern. The possibility of hail and tornadoes cannot be discounted. Rainfall totals are projected to be between 1 to 3 inches, raising the potential for localized flooding. Maintain a high degree of weather awareness throughout the day. Storms will clear out late, leading to temperatures dropping into the 40s by early Thursday morning.

THURSDAY & BEYOND: Following the front’s departure, high pressure will establish itself. Thursday will see mostly sunny skies with highs ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s. By Friday and throughout the weekend, brighter sunshine will bring a return to above-normal temperatures, climbing into the 70s. The forecast remains dry through the weekend before another cold front introduces cooler conditions early next week.
