Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State chapter, has urged Christians to embody the Easter spirit by demonstrating sacrificial love towards fellow citizens and national leaders.
Speaking at the recently concluded Destiny 2026 conference in Lagos, Adegbite underscored that the true essence of Easter should inspire compassion, unity, and national renewal.
He also dismissed widespread doomsday predictions about Nigeria’s future, expressing strong confidence in the nation’s unity and stability. “Peace will reign. Every storm shall be subdued,” he affirmed.
The four-day conference, themed “A Time of Refreshing in His Presence,” coincided with the 38th anniversary celebration of Vineyard Christian Ministries Inc.
In his address, Archbishop John Osa-Oni, Presiding Bishop of Vineyard Christian Ministries Inc., encouraged believers to overcome spiritual discouragement by intentionally cultivating a deeper relationship with God.
“You must be intentional in your desire for the knowledge of God to truly know Him. It is not a casual relationship; it is a commitment to dwell in His presence for refreshing,” he stated.
Osa-Oni emphasized that abiding in God’s presence guarantees rest, joy, preservation, and access to the divine nature, enabling believers to experience peace even during challenging times. “When you secure the presence of God, you secure life,” he added.
Also speaking, Apostle Josephine Femi-Asiwaju, Coordinator of the Lagos State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Women Wing, encouraged Christians to continually seek and remain in God’s presence.
She stressed that abiding in God provides clarity of identity and comfort, even in moments of weakness. “Even if your character is faulty and you are weary in life, remain in His presence and abide in Him,” she advised.
The event drew worshippers and church leaders from across Lagos, reinforcing messages of faith, hope, and spiritual rejuvenation in line with the Easter season.
