Claude Suffered a ‘Major Outage.’ Anthropic Says It’s Fixed.

Anthropic’s Claude AI recently faced significant disruptions.

On Tuesday morning, Anthropic’s widely used Claude AI chatbot and its Claude Code development tool experienced widespread outages for many users.

Claude’s official system status page indicated a “major outage” impacting the Claude website and Claude Code. Thousands of users also reported access issues on DownDetector, a third-party outage monitoring platform.

Conversely, Claude Cowork and the Claude API were confirmed to be fully operational.

Approximately 90 minutes later, Anthropic announced that a fix had been implemented.

“We have applied a fix and success rates have returned to normal,” the company stated on its status dashboard. It further added, “We are continuing to monitor closely to ensure there are no further issues.”

This is not the first time Claude has encountered service interruptions. Thousands of users reported similar access problems on Monday, and Anthropic’s status dashboard indicates a series of issues in recent weeks.

Despite these technical hiccups, interest in Claude has surged, with its app downloads briefly exceeding ChatGPT’s on Apple’s App Store in early March.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for further details regarding the incident.

This is a developing story.
