On Sunday night, CNN released a report debunking an anonymous claim from the Trump administration that had spread rapidly through MAGA Media. The report disclosed that, during private briefings with congressional staff, Pentagon officials confirmed Iran had no intentions of initiating an unprovoked attack on U.S. forces in the Middle East.

This news likely caused unease for CNN’s prominent MAGA commentator, Scott Jennings. Earlier that weekend, Jennings had amplified the claim to his nearly one million X followers, stating that high-ranking Trump administration officials informed him “that reliable intelligence pointed to Iran preparing preemptive missile strikes against U.S. military targets and civilian sites in the region.” Jennings further claimed that “Inaction would have led to widespread U.S. casualties.” His post accumulated over 13,000 shares and more than five million views, according to the platform’s data.
