Dominik Szoboszlai expects Liverpool to demonstrate their true capabilities when they face Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds return to Premier League contention this Sunday afternoon, hosting Spurs at Anfield.

This fixture offers Szoboszlai and his colleagues an immediate chance to rebound after their mid-week Champions League loss to Galatasaray.

“I felt quite upset following the match, not just about the outcome,” the No.8 conveyed to Liverpoolfc.com. “It was also because I sensed we didn’t perform at the level we should, or indeed can.”

“We’ve demonstrated so many times our capacity to defeat any team, whether in the league or in European competitions.

“We really need to concentrate on the upcoming fixtures; Sunday brings Tottenham, and next Wednesday will be another crucial game – I’m really looking forward to it.”

Tottenham travels to Merseyside needing crucial points to secure their Premier League status.

However, Liverpool also harbours its own aspirations for the remainder of the league season, aiming to secure Champions League qualification for the next term at L4.

Szoboszlai added: “Frankly, my focus isn’t on them. My focus is on us, as we also have objectives to strive for. We want to be in the Champions League next year, so there’s a qualification spot to pursue.

“But above all, we must concentrate on ourselves, execute correctly, and then everything will fall into place.”

Liverpool makes its return to Anfield after playing three consecutive away matches.

The encouragement from nearly 60,000 passionate Reds fans is an advantage Arne Slot’s squad is eager to fully leverage.

“It makes a huge impact. We definitely need their presence on Sunday,” Szoboszlai stated. “Everyone who can attend should be there.

“I don’t think that’s ever an issue, but we also require them to be as vocal as possible, especially next Wednesday.

“We experienced the atmosphere of such a loud stadium with incredible fans in Istanbul, but I believe we can replicate that at home. We will need every single one of them.”
