‘Gen V’ Canceled After 2 Seasons, ”Vought Rising’ Confirmed For 2027

Alongside The Boys, which is coming to an end, another live-action series within Prime Video‘s superhero franchise, spinoff Gen V, will also not be returning for a third season.

This news, which arrives six months after the conclusion of the YA drama’s second season, set at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, was anticipated. One of Gen V‘s actors, Asa Germann, recently secured a series regular position on Paramount+’s Frisco King, another streaming program.

While Gen V has concluded and the flagship series The Boys will finish its five-season run on May 20, the franchise is set to persist with the spinoff Vought Rising, slated to debut in 2027.

Furthermore, thanks to the integrated narrative of the Vought Cinematic Universe, characters from Gen V are making appearances in the current fifth season of The Boys, which also incorporates figures and elements from Vought Rising. This integration was established in the Gen V Season 2 finale, where supes were enlisted by Annie January (Erin Moriarty) from The Boys to join the resistance against Homelander’s dictatorship, a core theme of the Emmy-winning series’ final installment.

“While we regret not being able to extend the Godolkin experience for another season, we are dedicated to progressing the narratives of the Gen V characters within The Boys Season 5 and upcoming VCU ventures,” stated VCU executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg. “You will encounter them once more.”

In addition to Vought Rising, The Boys: Mexico remains in active development. All shows in the franchise are produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.

Gen V achieved an impressive start, securing a second season renewal midway through its initial season. The series later faced a tragic setback when one of its stars, Chance Perdomo, died in a motorcycle accident while on his way to the set in March 2024. This unfortunate event led to a delay in the production of the second season.

Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, Ori Marmur, Thomas Schnauz, Steve Boyum, and Brant Engelstein also held executive producer roles.
