Artificial intelligence is progressively integrating into our daily routines, prompting companies to streamline access to these advanced tools. While smartphones already offer immediate AI functionalities, large language models (LLMs) such as Google’s Gemini have historically been confined to web browsers on desktop platforms.

This new application now makes Gemini available instantly via a straightforward keyboard command.

MacBook owners can now summon Gemini at any moment by pressing Option and Space on their keyboard, eliminating the need to navigate through tabs or open new windows.

Key Gemini capabilities, including Nano Banana image generation, along with video and music creation, are readily accessible with just a few clicks.

Mirroring the functionality of the Gemini mobile app, the new MacOS application enables users to instantly share context from an open window, providing immediate insights into the content being viewed. Google confirms that this feature extends to local files on your computer, not just web pages.

The free, native application is currently available for all users running MacOS 15 or newer. Google states that this release is merely the initial step in developing a “personal, proactive, and powerful desktop assistant.”

You can download the app from gemini.google/mac.
