Cincinnati Bengals’ standout wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase reacted with strong displeasure upon learning that the Las Vegas Raiders had traded five-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby to the rival Baltimore Ravens.
During a video game livestream, Chase revealed he received a text message from his quarterback, Joe Burrow, informing him of the Ravens’ acquisition of Crosby. This news prompted an immediate, expletive-filled outburst from Chase.
“Joe just f—ing texted me. Ravens traded for Maxx Crosby,” Chase was heard saying over the livestream. “No f—ing s—. No f—ing s—, brother.

“I’m f—ing highly p—ed right now. Oh my God.”
As the news sank in, Chase expressed disbelief that Crosby, another elite pass rusher, was joining the already formidable AFC North, a division boasting talents like the Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett—who set a new single-season sack record in 2025—and Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro T.J. Watt, among others.
“How do we let this n—- go to the f—ing division bro?” Chase questioned. “… Oh my god.”
The Ravens acquired the 28-year-old Crosby from the Raiders in exchange for two first-round draft picks, notably including Baltimore’s No. 14 overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft. Under new defensive-minded head coach Jesse Minter, Baltimore is clearly committed to strengthening its defense, finally securing the former Eastern Michigan standout after his seven seasons in Las Vegas.
However, Chase is acutely aware that Crosby’s presence could intensify the challenges faced by the Bengals’ offense twice per season, given the team’s struggles with offensive line consistency in recent years.
Since his entry into the NFL as the first overall pick in 2020, Burrow has endured 213 sacks, placing him fourth among active quarterbacks during that period. Only Justin Herbert, Russell Wilson, and Baker Mayfield have been sacked more frequently.

As the 2026 season approaches, the Bengals undoubtedly need to continue strengthening their offensive line. With approximately $47 million available during the legal tampering period, which commences on Monday, they may aim to fortify this position through free agency or by leveraging the NFL Draft to ensure comprehensive protection for Burrow.
Concurrently, it appears the Bengals will part ways with their leading pass rusher, Trey Hendrickson. Having not received the franchise tag, Hendrickson is anticipated to command a substantial free-agent contract—a deal he had reportedly sought from Cincinnati last offseason. After playing on a one-year agreement, he is now an unrestricted free agent.
Following their AFC Championship Game loss in 2022, which itself came a season after their Super Bowl defeat to the Los Angeles Rams, the Bengals have experienced a dip in their accustomed level of success. This decline is partly attributable to significant injuries sustained by Burrow in both 2023 and the most recent season, where the team concluded with a 6-11 record after their signal-caller played only eight games.
Despite recent setbacks, the Bengals retain formidable offensive talent with Burrow and Chase. Fellow receiver Tee Higgins inked an extension last offseason, and running back Chase Brown has proven a valuable asset since his fifth-round selection in 2023, accumulating 1,019 rushing yards and 69 receptions for 437 yards in 2025.

However, facing AFC North defenses six times annually presents a formidable challenge, one that will only intensify with Crosby bolstering the Ravens’ defensive lineup.
And Chase, it seems, is acutely aware of this.
