Jon Hamm is quite comfortable with becoming a meme.

At the Los Angeles premiere for Hoppers on February 23, the Mad Men actor shared his perspective on the trending meme featuring his dance moves from a scene in Your Friends & Neighbors, his Apple TV+ series.

Hamm, 54, remarked, “I didn’t get paid for it, but it’s obviously delightful. It’s pleasant.” He added, “It’s definitely good to be recognized for something positive instead of something negative. I find it both baffling and charming at the same time, but it’s enjoyable.”

The memorable sequence originates from season 1, episode 8 of the drama series *Your Friends & Neighbors*. In the show, Hamm portrays Andrew “Coop” Cooper, a disgraced hedge fund manager who resorts to embezzling from his affluent acquaintances after losing his lucrative job.

Within the viral video, Coop closes his eyes, completely absorbed by the rhythm of “Turn The Lights Off” by Danish DJ Kato. This particular snippet circulated widely on TikTok last year, inspiring numerous users to create their own imitations, dancing with their eyes closed much like Hamm.

Reflecting on his inclusion in the esteemed Disney Pixar legacy, Hamm stated, “I would be dishonest if I claimed this wasn’t a lifelong ambition since I began my career eons ago, to be involved with this. It has cemented its position not merely in animation, but in the broader landscape of narrative art.” He continued, “Consider films like *Toy Story* or *WALL-E*. The list goes on and on, and the incredible dedication they apply to their narratives means this new film is a deserving addition to that esteemed group.”

Hamm is set to collaborate once more with his *Mad Men* colleague, John Slattery, in the forthcoming movie *Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass*, where they will portray themselves. The plot centers on a bride-to-be (Zoey Deutch) who seeks retribution against her fiancé (Michael Cassidy) after he exercises his “celebrity hall pass” to engage with another woman.

Slattery mentioned that it was Hamm who persuaded him to join the venture. “He actually contacted me about this and said, ‘David Wayne wrote a script — he wants to send it to you,’ ” Slattery recounted to E! News in January. “I replied, ‘Send it.’ I was in Budapest, it was the middle of the night, and I was jet-lagged. He sent me the script, I read it at one in the morning, and then I called him back immediately to say, ‘I’m in.'”

Hamm and Slattery had previously worked together on the 2022 comedy Confess, Fletch and the 2023 true-crime comedy *Maggie Moore(s).*
