Wrexham is scheduled to face Liverpool in a preseason fixture at Yankee Stadium this July, as the Welsh club persists in its efforts to penetrate the U.S. market.
The team, co-owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is set to participate in a series of matches alongside Leeds United, Sunderland, and the Merseyside club, with games slated for various American cities.
This marks Wrexham’s third expedition for a U.S. tour, having previously traveled across the Atlantic in 2023—when they triumphed over Manchester United—and in 2024—when Chelsea required a late equalizer to secure a draw.
The July fixture will signify the team’s inaugural appearance at the New York Yankees’ home ground.
“We are all eagerly anticipating our return to the US for our pre-season preparations,” Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson stated in an official release.
He added, “Our previous visits to the States have garnered tremendous support, and we look forward to reconnecting with our fans there once more, alongside competing against three formidable opponents in games crucial for our readiness for the 2026/27 campaign.”
It’s possible Wrexham could even journey to the U.S. as a Premier League club, given their impressive performance since returning to England’s second division.
Currently, Parkinson’s squad holds the sixth position in the Championship. A recent three-game winning streak has propelled them four points ahead of Southampton, who are their closest challengers for the final playoff position.

Wrexham’s most recent encounter with Liverpool took place almost two decades ago, in a 2007 friendly hosted at the Racecourse Ground.
The clubs last met in a competitive fixture back in 1978, a match where Kenny Dalglish’s hat-trick secured a 3-1 victory for Liverpool in the League Cup.
The opening game of Wrexham’s tour is set for July 25 against Leeds, at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.
The main event follows four days later at Yankee Stadium. The Welsh squad will then conclude their series on August 2, facing Sunderland in Rob McElhenney’s hometown at Subaru Park, home to Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is scheduled to play Sunderland at Nashville’s GEODIS Park on July 25, before wrapping up their fixtures on August 2 against Leeds at Soldier Field in Chicago.
