Jannik Sinner smoothly defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime, setting up a semi-final clash with Alexander Zverev at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The Italian second seed overcame his Canadian opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, extending his impressive winning streak in Masters 1000 tournaments to 20 matches – a run that has seen him claim titles in Paris, Indian Wells, and Miami.
“I feel this was a definite step forward today,” Sinner remarked, noting his performance improvement after dropping a set in a Masters event for the first time in 186 days during his previous last-16 victory against Tomas Machac.
“It was a truly tough match. I knew I needed to improve in specific areas. My serve isn’t quite at the level I’d prefer, but considering everything, I’m very content.
“Regardless, I’m extremely happy to be back in the semi-finals.”
