Thomas Sorber likely experienced the most memorable April Fool’s Day. Despite the 20-year-old being out for the season due to a torn ACL, the Oklahoma City Thunder ensured he still participated in the typical NBA rookie duties.
Following the Thunder’s practice session, Sorber became the target of a playful, good-natured prank. His OKC teammates completely filled his vehicle with packing peanuts, so much so that when Isaiah Hartenstein opened the car doors, they spilled out in a massive cascade.
Hartenstein recorded the entire incident. The reason for the prank was reportedly Sorber’s tardiness to several meetings. Other teammates present included Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, Cason Wallace, Jaylin Williams, and Isaiah Joe.
This event provides a moment of levity. Sorber has spent this season out of the spotlight, recovering from a torn ACL – a truly unfortunate situation. His only collegiate season at Georgetown was also prematurely ended by foot surgery in February 2025, meaning it has been a significant period since he last played in a game.
The 2026 Summer League will be an opportunity to observe Sorber’s performance, as it will likely mark his initial chance to play competitively for the Thunder. Until then, his involvement will be restricted to pre-game activities and supporting OKC from the sidelines during their efforts for consecutive wins.
