INDIANAPOLIS – When 68-year-old Rick “Stats” Klapthor was asked about his affection for his job at Gannon University, his reply was both succinct and charming.
“I don’t have to get dressed up for games,” Klapthor shared. “I don’t have a big wardrobe so it makes my decisions easier.”
Beyond his quick wit, Klapthor is deeply passionate about his school and approaches his work with the same serious dedication he displayed when he first started compiling statistics for Gannon in the fall of 1975. Known universally as ‘Stats’, he has meticulously kept the official book for the Golden Knights’ men’s and women’s basketball games for an impressive 51 years. Klapthor was just 17 years old when he began this responsibility, committed to maintaining flawless and precise records.
