Rose Byrne clarified the peculiar reason for her partner Bobby Cannavale’s non-attendance at the Golden Globes.
Last month, the actress, known for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, secured her inaugural Golden Globe, though Cannavale was conspicuously absent from the event.
During her acceptance speech, she astonished viewers by disclosing his absence was due to his presence at a New Jersey reptile expo, where he was purchasing a bearded dragon.
Byrne has since clarified that her story wasn’t intended to portray Cannavale as an avid lizard enthusiast.
“I will absolutely never again reveal such a detail on a prominent awards show,” she stated to The New York Times.
Byrne elucidated that the reptilian acquisition was indeed for their two offspring, not for Cannavale personally.
“Everyone assumed it was for Bobby. It isn’t! It’s for our kids,” she stressed.
The performer had previously quipped on The Tonight Show that skipping the expo would constitute “such a parent fail,” given the family’s promise of the pet to their sons.
Regarding the bearded dragon, Byrne later mentioned that the newest addition to their family has adjusted quite well.
“We have the little fellow now. He’s genuinely adorable, and everything’s progressing smoothly,” she informed Extra.
Byrne and Cannavale, who have been a couple since 2012, are parents to two children and frequently use “husband” and “wife” to describe each other, even without formal marriage.
