Seattle Sounders sign midfielder Peter Kingston

TRANSACTION UPDATE: Official Signing

Seattle Sounders FC officially announced Friday the signing of midfielder Peter Kingston, who joins the team from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Tacoma Defiance.

The 24-year-old’s contract extends until the close of the 2026 season, with club options for the 2027 and 2028 campaigns.

Sounders General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer Craig Waibel commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Peter to the first team roster and commend his consistent development within our organizational structure.”

“Peter exemplifies the effective development pipeline we have established here. We eagerly anticipate his continued advancement alongside our squad.”

Kingston has previously featured for Seattle in four matches via short-term loan agreements from Tacoma, notably contributing two assists as a substitute in last month’s 2-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, which secured their berth in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals.

Since his arrival at Tacoma prior to the 2025 MLS Next Pro season, Kingston has accumulated 3 goals and 6 assists in 38 games.

Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer stated, “Peter has truly merited this contract through his daily commitment and effort. His dedication in training, receptiveness to coaching, and ability to capitalize on chances with both Tacoma Defiance and the senior squad have been exemplary.”

“He has consistently performed with assurance whenever given the opportunity, demonstrating his capability at this tier. We are keen to fully incorporate him into our roster and observe his ongoing contributions to the team’s success.”
