Severe thunderstorms possible for Wednesday, Friday to Saturday

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) — A slow-moving upper-level low pressure system is expected to approach the Central Plains by the middle of the week.

Ahead of this system, breezy south winds will usher in increased moisture to our region, along with temperatures warmer than average. This will provide the necessary fuel for multiple waves of thunderstorms to pass through East Texas over the course of several days.

The initial round of storms is forecast for Wednesday afternoon/evening, and at least a few of these storms will have the potential to become strong to severe. Several more rounds of thunderstorms are likely from the end of the week and into the subsequent weekend. Additional First Alert Weather Days have been declared for Friday and Saturday. All severe weather hazards could occur, including strong, gusty winds, large hail, and the chance of isolated tornadoes.

Please continue to monitor the forecast for any adjustments as more precise details emerge concerning this approaching storm system.
