Source: Commanders release starting center Tyler Biadasz

The Washington Commanders have released starting center Tyler Biadasz, a move confirmed by a source on Thursday. While this action frees up additional salary cap space, it simultaneously creates another roster vacancy for the team.

Washington will gain $2.885 million in cap space from this release. The Commanders currently possess the fifth-highest amount of available cap space, but now only have 52 players under contract for the 2026 season. Should they designate his release as a post-June 1 cut, the team would save $8.3 million this season, though these savings would not become effective until after that date.

Biadasz had inked a three-year agreement, guaranteeing $20.7 million, just two years prior. This deal was part of general manager Adam Peters’ inaugural class of free agent signings in Washington.

Biadasz appeared in 31 games as a starter for Washington over the last two seasons. This decision leaves the team without a clear primary option at the center position. The Commanders do have Nick Allegretti, who remains on the roster as a backup guard/center. They might choose to pursue another player in free agency to fill the void.

The Cowboys selected Biadasz in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, and he earned a Pro Bowl selection after the 2022 season during his tenure with them.

His release was first reported by The NFL Network.
