The Unleashed Overview

New Mechanics

XP

XP serves as a resource that players accumulate and then spend to gain distinct advantages.

Consider Kha’Zix, the Voidreaver, as a prime illustration. This Champion Legend perfectly demonstrates how XP can be both acquired and utilized to trigger compelling effects.

His card states, “When you win a combat, gain 1 XP.” Once you’ve built up XP, you can activate abilities on his card: either spend 1 XP to Buff a unit, or spend 2 XP to relocate an exhausted friendly unit from a battlefield back to its base.

Every XP point you earn also contributes to your level, and many of your cards will unlock new abilities as your level increases. The mechanism is as follows: Cards featuring the Level keyword benefit directly from your accumulated XP. These cards gain special perks once you reach their specified XP level.

Take Master Yi, Unstoppable, as an example. When you have 3 XP, Master Yi, Unstoppable is considered Level 3, which reduces his play cost by 2 Energy and 1 Power. At Levels 6 and 11, his cost drops even further, and should you reach Level 16, he becomes immune to enemy spells and abilities.

Hunt

Hunt is a fresh mechanic designed to help you gather the XP needed to empower your cards or unleash spectacular effects. When a unit with Hunt successfully conquers or maintains control of a battlefield, you gain the amount of XP indicated on its card.

As shown, this Mosstompter possesses the Hunt effect, reading “When I conquer or hold, gain 2 XP.” It also features a Level 3 ability, meaning it too benefits from gaining XP.

Ambush

In League of Legends, a jungler’s essential skill involves striking from concealment at the opportune moment. In Riftbound, the new Ambush mechanic allows you to replicate this strategy. Specifically, Ambush lets you play a unit as a Reaction to a battlefield where your units are already present.

Observe Inferna:

Given her additional Assault 2 ability, Inferna is poised to make a significant impact upon arriving at a contested battlefield.

Unleashed Tokens:

We hope you’re ready for a plethora of new tokens, as Unleashed delivers a bounty of them. Feast your eyes!

Baron Pit:

This token enters the battlefield whenever Baron Nashor is played.

Bird:

This elusive new token comes equipped with Deflect.

Brush:

When you play Ivern, Green Father, you have the option to replace existing battlefields with this Brush token.

Buff:

A familiar staple, this grants a unit +1 Might.

Gold:

Introduced in Spiritforged, Gold provides one Power when you exhaust and defeat it.

Reflection:

This new token creates a copy of another card already in play.

Sprite:

This token is temporary, meaning you eliminate it at the beginning of your Beginning phase.

XP Tracker:

With the arrival of Unleashed comes XP, and keeping tabs on your accumulated XP will be crucial. This tracker is designed to assist with that.
