The Significance of the Top Seed
Thunder standout Shai Gilgeous-Alexander highlighted the critical role of securing home-court advantage.
“It holds immense importance, not only within the Western Conference but throughout the entire playoffs,” Gilgeous-Alexander stated. “Last year, we required a Game 7 at home against Denver… and similarly, we needed it versus Indiana to claim the championship. It’s as crucial as anything else, and every playoff-bound NBA team understands that.”
Gilgeous-Alexander also expressed his appreciation for the intense conclusion to the regular season schedule.
“Last season, I had an extended break between my last regular-season game and the playoffs, which I believe led to some rust heading into the postseason,” Gilgeous-Alexander commented. “Plus, I simply enjoy playing, so having the opportunity to get on the court for a few more games will be enjoyable.”

Thunder Roster Nearing Full Strength
The game in Boston on Wednesday represented the first occasion this season where Oklahoma City featured its complete roster. Jalen Williams is steadily recovering after an extended absence due to a hamstring injury.
“His return won’t be a straight line, but we are pleased to have him back, integrating him into these games, and allowing him to re-acclimate,” stated Thunder coach Mark Daigneault. “He has consistently performed at a high level for a young player, so my primary focus isn’t on his immediate performance as much as it is on getting him back on the court, shaking off any rust, and preparing him as we approach the playoffs.”
Oklahoma City now faces a schedule of nine remaining games before the postseason tips off on April 18th.
Bulls Battle for Playoff Berth
Chicago arrives on Friday with a 29-43 record, having dropped 18 of their last 23 contests. They are fresh off a significant 20-point defeat against Philadelphia.
Should they lose to Oklahoma City, the Bulls would officially be out of playoff contention.
Bulls head coach Billy Donovan has also been mentioned in connection with the head coaching vacancy at North Carolina.
“My primary attention remains on these players and this newly formed team,” Donovan asserted. “I am aware of the external discussions and the various speculations, but my commitment is entirely to this current squad.”
Oklahoma City previously secured a 116-108 victory over the Bulls in Chicago on March 3rd, even without key players Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Ajay Mitchell.
