UNCASVILLE, Conn. — — No. 1 UConn dominated Georgetown in the Big East tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, securing an 84-39 victory and extending their impressive winning streak to 48 games. Serah Williams contributed 14 points, with 12 coming in the opening half, while Sarah Strong added 11 points and Azzi Fudd chipped in with 10.

UConn (32-0) saw further offensive contributions from KK Arnold with 12 points and Kayleigh Heckel with eight. This win marked the Huskies’ 37th consecutive conference tournament triumph and their 43rd straight victory over the Hoyas. Notably, Strong achieved a significant milestone, joining an elite group of UConn women’s players including Nykesha Sales, Jennifer Rizzotti, Rita Williams, Moriah Jefferson, and Gabby Williams as the only ones to record 100 steals in a single season.

For Georgetown (14-17), Laila Jewett was the top scorer with nine points.

Georgetown initially took a 4-0 lead to start the game. However, Williams ignited a decisive 10-0 run, scoring eight points during the surge that put the Huskies ahead permanently. The Hoyas struggled offensively in the second quarter, enduring nearly seven minutes without a field goal. During this period, UConn capitalized with a 13-point unanswered run, establishing a commanding 47-18 lead by halftime.

Georgetown, now having lost to UConn in the Big East tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons, managed only one field goal throughout the entire third quarter.
