LOS ANGELES — Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker anticipated he would sit out one of the team’s final two regular-season games.
“It’s probably a conversation we’ll have amongst the team, but I could see one of the games not playing,” Booker commented after achieving 37 points in a 112-107 home victory on April 8 over the Dallas Mavericks.
The Suns (44-36) have officially ruled Booker out for the April 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers (50-29) at Crypto.com Arena.
Phoenix concludes its regular season on April 12, facing the defending NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder (64-16).
Jalen Green (right knee soreness) is listed as questionable for the Lakers game, while Jordan Goodwin (left ankle sprain) and Haywood Highsmith are confirmed as unavailable.
Green and Goodwin were both absent for the second half of the April 7 win, having sustained their injuries in the first half.
Despite warming up at halftime, they were unable to rejoin the game. Green, in his debut season with Phoenix, has missed 48 contests due to a right hamstring injury, a contrast to playing every game in his prior two seasons with the Houston Rockets.
Mark Williams (left foot injury management) and Grayson Allen (right quad contusion) are both cleared to play in the April 10 game after sitting out the previous one.
Neither Williams nor Allen is listed on the injury report.
The April 10 game will mark the second of a back-to-back for the Lakers, who are scheduled to play the Golden State Warriors (37-42) on April 9.
The Lakers are without Luka Doncic (left hamstring strain) and Austin Reaves (left oblique muscle strain), both ruled out for the rest of the regular season. Jaxson Hayes (left foot soreness) and guard Marcus Smart (right ankle contusion) are also sidelined for the game against the Warriors.
The Suns have secured the seventh seed in the Western Conference. They will host either the Los Angeles Clippers (41-39) or the Portland Trail Blazers (40-40) on April 14 in the play-in tournament.
The victorious team will claim the seventh seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
The losing team will then compete against the winner of the 9th vs. 10th seed matchup on April 17 for the eighth seed. The Warriors currently hold the 10th position in the West.
