Jusuf Nurkic to have nose surgery, miss rest of Jazz’s season

HOUSTON — Jusuf Nurkic, the Utah Jazz’s center, is scheduled for nose surgery this week and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Prior to Monday’s matchup against the Houston Rockets, Jazz head coach Will Hardy disclosed that Nurkic had been in need of this surgical procedure for some time.

“He’s been dealing with a severely deviated septum in his nose,” Hardy explained. “He’s taken several blows to the face this season, four or five times specifically. A recent illness has expedited this decision. It’s a procedure he’s required for quite some time, and now he’ll finally get it addressed.”

During his inaugural season with the Jazz, the 31-year-old Nurkic played 41 games, achieving averages of 10.9 points and 10.4 rebounds. His contract is set to expire, making him a free agent once the season concludes.

“Nurk has played a crucial role in our efforts this season, contributing to our team in numerous capacities,” Hardy stated.
