I genuinely adore this poll, especially knowing how desperately progressives wanted to avoid seeing Trump and this hockey team celebrate after defeating their beloved Canadians

Be sure to cast your vote.

At so-called Woke USA Today, Christine Brennan acknowledged the U.S. men’s Olympic gold, but her piece focused entirely on how Title IX has led to U.S. women now outperforming men in gold medal counts. Meanwhile, at Yahoo, the consistent OutKick Woke All-Star Challenge standout, Dan Wolken, completely overlooked the men’s team’s gold medal victory.

Sarah Spain, reporting from Italy for some news outlet, managed a brief Bluesky post acknowledging the men’s victory, only to promptly follow it with a celebration of a Canadian bar owned by two gay women.

These are the disagreeable individuals we’ve consistently warned you about for years, and why they warrant scrutiny in moments like these. They harbor resentment for American exceptionalism. They detest what the U.S. represents, regardless of how vigorously they attempt to portray themselves as patriots by disingenuously defending their fellow citizens.

Let’s be honest, many of these disingenuous individuals would list their homes for sale in an instant if a group of new neighbors from Guatemala moved into the 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house next door.

Jack Hughes’ goal was an impeccably timed sports moment in American history.

What we witnessed Sunday morning across the United States was, hopefully, the start of a broader pushback against the “woke mind virus” that figures like Megan Rapinoe and other progressive figures have imposed upon Americans.

One can only imagine Rapinoe’s frustration, perhaps even wanting to pull out her purple hair, as Hughes spoke to the NBC sideline reporter about his deep pride in his country. Rapinoe dislikes men, and she has a particular aversion to straight, white men expressing pride in their nation.

  • Who among the ‘woke’ brigade conceived the idea of awarding Olympians stuffed animals as an additional prize after winning medals? I’d genuinely be interested in a podcast detailing its origins.
  • I hope those Canadians wintering in Florida, who voiced concerns about potential arrests and detention, thoroughly enjoyed that game.
  • Mike Tirico’s performance during Sunday’s pregame, intermissions, and his closing remarks for the coverage was truly outstanding. To deliver all that spontaneously, purely off the cuff, was genuinely remarkable.

— Jeff E. shares his thoughts:

It’s been a while, but here are a few observations:

1) Olympics Musings

-Hockey is a magnificent sport. The men’s match was spectacular. Those athletes are phenomenal, and Hughes’ post-game comments were flawless. I’ve been attending some Mammoth games, and they are quite enjoyable.

-If a US athlete chooses to represent China, that’s perfectly fine with me. However, it seems they shouldn’t utilize US facilities, coaching, or funding. It makes me wonder what China does if one of their athletes opts to represent another nation. Once again, the US remains the superior country for numerous reasons.

  -Norway deserves commendation.

-Curling could certainly benefit from incorporating fighting, much like hockey.

2). This year’s Super Bowl was rather lackluster. I watch for the game itself, and that’s the core appeal, but the overall presentation was dreadful. I follow the league all year, witnessing incredible athletes perform astonishing feats. The playoffs were thrilling. Then comes the main event, and the essence of football gets overshadowed by all the unnecessary spectacle. It’s becoming difficult to maintain interest.

-I have a passion for live music and have attended many concerts across diverse genres. Bad Bunny, in my opinion, is profoundly deficient.

-Regarding the 3/4 zip top, how can anyone not appreciate a versatile garment suitable for anything from the gym to business casual? I suppose not everyone can wear t-shirts with cut-off sleeves.

-Just as I’m rediscovering my affection for MLB, they seem intent on complicating things. Perhaps it’s time to delve into college baseball. I’ve also heard positive things about college lacrosse.

-Your assessment of Wendy’s was absolutely accurate. One of the three locations in our town recently closed. The efficiency chart for fast-food drive-thrus, comparing car count to time spent in line, shows Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s as exact opposites. Any comparative chart for CfA and Wendy’s will highlight this inverse relationship.

-Keep an eye on the NASA Artemis II launch. It promises to be a truly significant American moment.

As always, keep up the excellent work. You are a singular voice amidst a sea of absurdity.

— Scott from Rocky Point, NY, shared his view:

Good morning, before the “Historic Blizzard” of 2026 makes landfall here.

My brief thoughts on the USA Men’s Hockey gold: Utterly fantastic.

I typically don’t watch hockey at all, which is unusual for someone who lives and breathes sports. But American pride compelled me to watch and enjoy every moment.

I truly appreciate that these adult athletes don’t feel the need to prance around like jesters, celebrating with excessive hugs and crashing into the glass as a unified group.

— Tom in Omaha was very enthusiastic following the victory:

Hello! I’ve been following your work for quite some time now—this is my first email to you.

I’m not sure if you caught this, but both the USA Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams defeated their Canadian counterparts by the exact score of 2-1 in overtime. It feels like a fitting, almost poetic justice, and utterly hilarious! Canada outplayed both US teams for roughly 50 minutes in each game, but in these situations, the final score is what ultimately matters!

A couple of other points (the second one might interest you more—you’ll see why):

  • That Jeep “ducking” phenomenon is truly bizarre, though I’ve only seen ducks on a Jeep twice and wasn’t sure what to make of it. Honestly, the individuals driving those Jeeps probably shouldn’t be operating them. And no, I don’t own a Jeep and never intend to, though the Rubicon model is pretty cool.
  • As a fellow major college baseball enthusiast, when do you plan to visit Omaha for the College World Series? Having lived here most of my life, I’ve probably attended around 300 games. I recall the days when reserved seats cost $7 and general admission was $3 (though those prices have since multiplied tenfold, not due to inflation, but all the usual corporate/NCAA nonsense, as you can imagine—yes, I’m old, but perhaps not as old as you think). My uncle knew someone who lived across from the old Rosenblatt Stadium on 14th Street in South Omaha (now it’s relocated to the north side of downtown, more corporate), and we used to park in his yard for free—he’d charge everyone else $5 (again, that was ages ago). You absolutely need to spend a week here; even if LSU doesn’t qualify, their fans still tailgate, bringing their large RVs and camping out for the entire two weeks of the CWS, offering crawdads, jambalaya, and any Louisiana dish imaginable. It’s an experience you must undertake this year if you haven’t already. I’m not sure if you’ve been to the CWS, but I expect many of your email correspondents have, and it truly is an unforgettable experience, especially for out-of-towners.

Keep up the fantastic work! I thoroughly enjoy reading your articles! Oh, and also, DoorDash is a rip-off—I understand it for pizza delivery, but beyond that, it’s a total scam.

— John W. sends an update from Italy:

After a weekend spent in Florence
– followed by two days of school orientation in Budapest
– then a weekend in Warsaw (where I discovered cider in a Ukrainian bar)
– Monday and Tuesday marked the start of classes back in Budapest
– my daughter visited a friend studying in Milan, joined by three other study abroad friends from their respective schools

Local food photos are mandatory.

The Olympic souvenir shop located in the heart of the tourist district, and the rather poor quality merchandise they offered.

Speaking of Notable Americans, Vern Submitted His Update Sunday After Team USA’s Victory

I can only envision the profound pride Vern experienced as that decisive goal went in.

— Vern writes:

Joe—My golfing objective was to shoot 85 +/- 2 and eventually break 80. In my last 20 rounds, 16 have been 87 or under, and I’ve hit 79 twice in the past week. Hopefully, the attached photos demonstrate that not all Arizona golf courses are desert landscapes, the sky isn’t always blue, the Mariner’s ground crew is skilled enough for the Thursday night mowing league, and if I were home, I’d be steelhead fishing with my son and grandson!

Congratulations to the USA Olympic hockey teams, both men’s and women’s! As a Canadian friend reminded me this week, in Olympic hockey, you don’t earn a silver medal—you lose a gold medal!

Finally, regardless of your personal ambition, get off your backside and achieve it!

Has CBS Overdone Its Praise for Scheffler?

— Eric P. believes enough is enough:

There’s nothing better on a rainy February Sunday than watching golf at a sun-drenched Riviera country club… But there’s nothing worse than the sycophants on CBS constantly droning on about Scheffler “making his Sunday move” when he’s on the 14th hole, already 11 strokes behind the leader; they treat his effort to simply maintain a streak of top-10 finishes as if he’s securing his fourth major title of the season. Thank goodness for On Demand.

That concludes things for now. It’s shaping up to be a busy start to the final full week of February. Let that thought settle in. We’re almost past the cold season. Just a couple more weeks, and we’ll be through it.

Let’s approach it with vigor.
