Caitlin Clark Sends Message After Engagement Announcement

Before Caitlin Clark rose to prominence as a WNBA star with the Indiana Fever, she built an exceptional career in women’s college basketball playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Clark fundamentally reshaped the NCAA record books, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Division I, leading the nation in both points and assists across multiple seasons, and guiding Iowa to championship game appearances in 2023 and 2024.

She accumulated numerous awards, including two Wooden Awards and two Naismith Awards for national player of the year, alongside three Big Ten Player of the Year honors. Her profound influence, both on and off the court, cemented her status as one of the sport’s most celebrated figures.

Among the athletes who shared the court with Clark during that memorable period was guard Gabbie Marshall, a consistent starter and key defensive presence who played alongside Clark throughout her entire Iowa career. Marshall’s unwavering performance and leadership were crucial to the Hawkeyes’ accomplishments from 2020 through 2024.

On Sunday, Marshall announced her engagement to her long-term boyfriend, Spencer Touro. The 25-year-old shared this exciting news via Instagram.

“2-18-26 WE’RE ENGAGED!! 💍So excited for this next chapter of our lives! And we’ve got a new friend to join us for the ride 🐶,” the caption read.

Former teammates inundated the comments section with congratulatory messages. Clark notably joined the celebration with two enthusiastic posts, writing “LETSSSSS RAGEEEE💕💕💕💕💕💕” followed by “CONGRATS SISTA.”

After her college tenure, Marshall opted not to pursue a WNBA career, instead focusing on her academic journey by earning a master’s degree in occupational therapy at the University of North Carolina. Despite their diverging paths, Clark and Marshall have maintained a strong friendship, consistently supporting each other on social media and in person.

Most recently, Marshall disclosed that she would be relocating to Indianapolis with her fiancé after he accepted a job there — notably, the same city where Clark plays for the Fever.
