PLOVER, Wis. (WSAW) – The Portage County Business Council is expressing its anticipation for Vice President JD Vance’s upcoming visit to central Wisconsin this Thursday.
During his visit, the Vice President is slated to discuss the Trump Administration’s achievements at a machining facility in Plover.
Michael Witte, President and CEO of the Portage County Business Council, conveyed his excitement for the event to NewsChannel 7. He noted that stops immediately following the State of the Union address are highly sought-after, and it’s a significant recognition for the area.
Witte also indicated his belief that this marks the first time Plover will host presidential leadership.
“Regardless of political affiliation, this is a thrilling moment for Portage County, and Plover specifically,” Witte commented. “It brings us into the national spotlight, and there’s nothing more exhilarating for our community than to have JD here.”
Witte shared his hope that VP Vance will observe Plover and Portage County’s overall growth, characterized by new residential developments and expanding businesses.
Witte also highlighted the robust manufacturing sector in Portage County.
“We are home to large enterprises like Pointe Precision and Steel King, as well as smaller manufacturing firms such as Sunset Engineering. This means we truly have a diverse mix of businesses, from very small to very large. I believe it’s a dynamic period for all these businesses, especially as manufacturing gains prominence with the Vice President’s visit,” Witte elaborated.
The White House has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the Vice President’s itinerary or timing for his visit to the region.
