Maura Higgins has emerged as a standout personality on the American edition of The Traitors, attracting significant attention for her distinct Irish accent and pronunciations, her open friendship with fellow Love Islander Rob Rausch, and her consistently stunning appearances.
The 35-year-old Irish television personality has showcased some of the most impressive glam and roundtable ensembles seen on the show recently. As one of the final faithfuls remaining in season four, viewers have had ample opportunity to admire her various looks on screen.
However, one of her “top” beauty strategies during the series involved having a selection of wigs readily available. “I’m not great at styling my hair — I simply lack the patience. I enjoy doing my makeup more than my hair,” she recently revealed to Interview Magazine when asked about her haircare regimen.
Wigging out on The Traitors
“I brought wigs to Traitors because my hair is incredibly curly and prone to frizz, so that was truly the best decision I made for Traitors,” Maura elaborated, explaining why her natural hair posed challenges in the damp Scottish highlands, where the NBC reality competition is filmed.
“During missions where we were submerged in water and the weather was less than ideal — often rainy and cold — I would simply put on a small beanie, complete the task, and then, upon returning, I’d put my wig back on, which was already styled. It was the smartest thing I did.“

Also during the interview, the Glow Up presenter was asked about her typical hair care routine, to which she admitted: “I’m not sure I have one,” mentioning that on busier days, she might use a hair mask. “I don’t really do much with my hair,” apart from using a root spray. “I’ve had gray hair since I was 17, so I constantly need to conceal my roots.”
Regarding drying her hair naturally versus blow-drying: “Sometimes I’ll use a blow-dryer. Other times, I’ll just rough dry it and style it myself.”
Her Experience on The Traitors
The TV personality concluded her journey on season four of The Traitors as one of the last four faithfuls remaining. She managed to avoid any suspicion that would lead to banishment or murder, largely due to her fellow Islander Rob looking out for her in the turret. She advanced to the finale alongside Rob and traitor recruit Eric Nam, as well as faithfuls Johnny Weir, Tara Lipinski, and Mark Ballas.
“When participants get really caught up in the game, I’m usually thinking, ‘Oh, everyone, it’s just a game,'” she previously told Glamour. “My main concern was ‘Please don’t murder me, I want to wear my outfit tomorrow.’ That’s how I felt.”
Reflecting on her time on the series, she commented: “I actually found it quite challenging, mainly because I had never watched the show before. I probably should have. I believe that’s one of my regrets.”
“However, my mindset before filming was something like, ‘Well, I’ve never watched any other shows I’ve appeared on before doing them, and it has always worked out fine for me.’ So, yes, I entered with very little prior knowledge, and I learned the game as it progressed.”
