Texans reach agreement to re-sign veteran OT Trent Brown

The Houston Texans and offensive tackle Trent Brown finalized a one-year contract extension on Thursday, potentially worth up to $7 million, as reported by agent Drew Rosenhaus to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This agreement follows a period where the Texans had traded away two other offensive linemen. Houston previously agreed to send starting right tackle Tytus Howard to the Cleveland Browns and also committed to trading Juice Scruggs to the Detroit Lions as part of a deal to acquire running back David Montgomery.

Both aforementioned trades will not be officially completed until 4 p.m. next Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the 2026 league year.

Brown, who measures 6-foot-8 and weighs 380 pounds, served as a rotational starter for the Texans last season but demonstrated effectiveness once he was healthy enough to play in Week 10 after recovering from a knee injury.

He made seven starts, and specifically during Weeks 10-16, he recorded the sixth-lowest pressure rate (7.1%) among right tackles with at least 200 pass blocking repetitions, according to Next Gen Stats.

A seventh-round selection by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, the 32-year-old Brown has appeared in 110 games, with 103 starts, across his 11 professional seasons.

He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2019 while playing for the Raiders.
