WNBA standout Arike Ogunbowale found her post-championship celebration abruptly halted when she was taken into custody, accused of assaulting a security guard at a Miami nightclub on Thursday, leading to a mugshot.
According to documents acquired by TMZ Sports, authorities were alerted to a fight inside E11EVEN. Upon reaching the club’s rear exit, an officer observed security personnel ushering a substantial group of people out.
Upon interviewing the alleged victim, the officer learned that the victim was trying to remove 29-year-old Ogunbowale from the establishment following a separate dispute. It was at this point that she allegedly struck him with a closed fist, causing him to collapse.
The individual who claimed to be assaulted promptly identified Ogunbowale at the scene. She was then arrested for battery without any further issues.
The incident, as detailed in the report, was recorded by surveillance cameras.
Earlier that evening, Ogunbowale had been at the club with her Mist teammates, celebrating their victory over the Phantom to secure the championship. She had contributed 19 points to their significant win.
Video clips circulating on social media depict Ogunbowale enjoying herself with fellow players Paige Bueckers and Aziaha James before being taken into custody.
